Awesome, I Sampled That Pt.1

A few weeks ago, the Beastie Boys released their seventh full-length album, The Mix Up. The new album goes back to them playing as a live band, recording jams influenced by instrumental soul-jazz records, and giving nod to fans of The In Sound From Way Out!.
Since these guys are getting old, it’s probably a good thing they’ve decided to leave behind the silly mopeds, and spaceman costumes for The Mix Up, but it would be nice if they added a few rare samples.
Each time a new Beastie Boys record drops, I like to play, “what’s that sample?”, because these guys are huge record junkies, and rich world travelers. Those two things combined have put them in the perfect position to find exceptional gems to sample, and share with fans.
I just pulled out many of my Beasties sample sources, which I’d like to post as part of a series. In this post I’m putting up two sample sources, and at this rate, it may take a long time for me to exhaust the collection.
Beastie Boys - Car Thief (Paul’s Boutique)
Here is the original source for the synth bass line that runs through the verses of “Car Thief”
Funk Factory - Rien Ne Va Plus (1971)
In the last 40 seconds of “The Move”, there is a sample of a guy singing what sounds like a Spanish add for 7UP. It’s actually a sample of a Chilean group named Los Angeles Negros, or translated, The Black Angels. My understanding of the Spanish language doesn’t take me far, but I can still imagine this song as an add for some cool & refreshing lemon-lime beverage.

Man, excellent work here. I love hearing the originals. The Spanish roughly translates into something about We are Kings, so Love us, or something.
I love the part in the Move where the Spanish singing starts and then the drum loop kicks in, just a nice groove.
good work, thanks.
